Tire production of raw materials prices


The implementation of tight monetary policy has led to the rigidity of procurement settlement, which has brought huge cost and capital pressure to the majority of tire manufacturers. The main raw materials for tire production, such as natural rubber, synthetic rubber, steel wire, steel cord, various chemical accessories, coal, etc., are frequently priced at record highs and resources are extremely tight. The average price of imported 20# standard rubber was US $2051/ton in 2007, rising to US $2200/ton at the beginning of this year, reaching US $2800/ton at the end of April and 3280 yuan/ton by June 18, up more than 49% from the beginning of the year. The average purchase price of domestic 5# rubber was 19341 yuan/ton in 2007 and rose to 20400 yuan/ton at the beginning of this year, the price reached 23000 yuan/ton at the end of April and 28000 yuan/ton by June 18, up more than 37% from the beginning of the year. The average price of chlorinated butyl rubber in 2007 and the price at the beginning of 2008 were 48800 yuan/ton. The price rose to 79000 yuan/ton at the end of April and 100000 yuan/ton on June 18, up more than 104 percent from the beginning of the year; the average price of tempering steel wire was 6000 yuan/ton in 2007, rising to 6700 yuan/ton at the beginning of this year, reaching 8000 yuan/ton at the end of April and 10500 yuan/ton on June 18, up more than 56% from the beginning of the year. By June 18, the prices of various auxiliary materials have increased by more than 30% compared with the beginning of the year. The current price of raw and auxiliary materials has a comprehensive price increase rate of more than 40% compared with the average price in 2007, as a direct result, the cost of tire sales increased by more than 25%.
